In the last weeks between April and May, FEPYMA and EFESME collaborated on a document to comment on the Spanish Draft Royal Decree approving the Supplementary Technical Instruction AEM 1 “Lifts”, regulating the commissioning, modification, maintenance and inspection of lifts and the increasing of safety of existing lifts. (HERE in English)
The document, a national text made available by the Spanish government and the European Commission online to gather comments and contributions, contains points that can be highly detrimental to Spanish lift SMEs, and FEPYMA therefore decided to intervene, requesting EFESME's technical and political support.
During several online meetings, EFESME experts were then able to give their input and make their observations on the comments developed by FEPYMA, so that the Spanish association could present a document that also counted on the European level support of its Federation.
Some of the points analysed and commented on were:
- Substantial amendments of existing lifts
- Obligations and responsabilities for companies
- Concept and implementation of modifications
- Inspections
- Accidents and incidents
The final document, presented by FEPYMA with the support of EFESME, is therefore a submission that proposes detailed and justified modifications to the text of the Spanish Draft Royal Decree, so that it is more SME-friendly and becomes, if amended as suggested, a tool to support the daily work of Spanish lift SMEs.
EFESME is very satisfied with this collaboration which proves that, once again, the cooperation between the national and European levels can lead to extremely satisfactory and important results for the lift SMEs represented together.
